Q & A with Abby Sieperda, Marketing and Sales Associate

Abby (right) enjoys spending time with her family, as seen here with her mom.

Abby graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in Kinesiology and a Certificate in Professional Strategic Selling. While pursuing her degree, Abby was a collegiate athlete and captain on the K-State women’s soccer team, a member of the K-State National Society of Leadership and Success and a member of the K-State Athletics Leadership Academy. Growing up, Abby wanted a career related to healthcare and science and even considered becoming a nurse. Ultimately, she decided to focus her time on her passion for soccer, but she knew no matter what she did that she wanted to help people through health and fitness. After coming across the sales program at K-State, she realized sales could be the opportunity she was looking for and she went on to join Tohi as a Sales and Marketing Associate.

When she’s not working, Abby spends time with her family and visits her boyfriend Chad, a professional baseball player for the Blue Jays Organization. She enjoys days at the lake, concerts, hanging out with friends, biking and exploring new trails, and watching sports on the TV outside by a bonfire.

Q: Why did you want to join Tohi?

A: I wanted to join Tohi because it was a chance to really experience what it’s like to build a company. I get to be a part of all sides of the business, which is very atypical when it comes to other companies and careers. I get to see the ins and outs of the operations and can really have an impact in starting something big. Being a former athlete, I knew I wanted to work for a company that truly understood the importance of nutrition and wellness and that’s what you get here with Tohi!

Q: When did you first become interested in marketing and sales?

A: I first became interested while at K-State. I found out they have a sales program and that anyone can apply to be in it even if you aren’t a part of the business school. So, I applied and got in! It was basically a minor for me. I was one of the few non-business school majors in the program so that was cool. I really enjoyed learning all the aspects of sales and I knew I wanted to pursue it as a career.

Q: What do you like most about your job?

A: My favorite part is that I get to do a lot of different things. I’m not stuck doing the same thing every day. I get to be creative and come up with new ideas. I wake up in the morning and enjoy coming into the office! I also get to help with partnerships that revolve around sports which really excites me because of my passion for athletics.

Q: When it comes to the products you consume, what’s important to you when deciding what to purchase?

A: Growing up playing soccer, I became more aware of what I was putting into my body. I had to make sure I was fueling it properly in order to play 90 minutes in a game. Now that I am done with competitive soccer, I still have the same mindset. I consider the amount of sugar, carbs, fats, etc., I consume in drinks and food and typically try to choose the better options. My key thing when it comes to the products I consume is that it’s all about finding a balance. BALANCE = HAPPINESS.
Along with that, I want it to taste good and still be good for me at the same time. I think price is a factor as well in that if I am spending more for something, I want it to have good benefits.

Q: As a member of the sales team, what makes Tohi unique compared to other beverages available to purchase?

A: There are many things that make Tohi great. First, it’s made from Aronia Berries (an emerging, good for you, super berry) which already diversifies itself from many other beverages. Second, when picking up a can of Tohi you’ll notice that it’s naturally sweetened and is an antioxidant beverage. There are many benefits that come from antioxidants and they help to counteract oxidative stress. Also, naturally sweetened means there is no artificial sugar added. These are two key components of a great drink that others don’t provide together. I think everyone can appreciate a low sugar drink that still tastes sweet. Along with that, Tohi can be utilized in many different recipes and drink mixtures. Tohi offers up a clean label, all natural beverage that anyone can enjoy and reap the benefits from. Not to mention the awesome unique flavors!

Q: Speaking of flavors, what is your favorite Tohi flavor?

A: I love them all! I go back and forth but right now my favorite is Dragon Fruit!
