Q & A with Jade Anderson, Sales & Marketing Associate
Jade grew up in Orange County, California and migrated to the Midwest to pursue a degree in Marketing and a soccer
scholarship from Kansas State University. In college, she was able to deepen her passion for sports and people during her experience as a promo crew intern with the Fan Experience & Sales Marketing department. Interested in marketing and sports, naturally a knack for sales developed where she exeled in many role play competitions within the sales institute. Besides working for a team, Jade has a lot of experience leading a team. As a team captain for the Kansas State Soccer team, she was able to help develop the culture for the program during their inaugural season in 2016. She was also the only student-athlete awarded the Veryl & Fern Switzer Campus Leadership Award in 2018, the KSU Women’s Soccer Leadership Award, and chosen as the K-State Athletics student representative for the Black Student Athlete Summit.
Her love for nutrition and fitness that developed over an 18 year soccer career blends nicely with Tohi’s vision and focus on active nutrition. When she is not working, Jade loves to spend time with family and friends, enjoy a good book or explore new restaurants.
Q: When did you first become interested in marketing and sales?
My first insight into the world of Marketing was in high school during my senior year. I had the opportunity to job shadow an incredible marketing executive who is continuing to dominate the sports industry (a predominantly male world) and her role had everything I was interested in rolled up into one; Sports, People, Relationships, Creative Environment. It’s about selling yourself to people and I was sold.
Q: What made you want to join Tohi?
I wanted to join Tohi because it was a unique opportunity to learn, it fostered a creative environment and had values I could get behind. I knew I wanted to work for a company and with a team who were excited about their work, who believed in the mission and who had a passion for nutrition and wellness. Plus being an athlete all of my life, I know firsthand the importance of nutrition for recovery and the lack of clean label, low sugar and tasty options out there. Tohi is the answer.
Q: What emerging trends in marketing are you seeing for 2019?
Well as we all know, the digital age of marketing has taken over. But in 2019 it’s on an entire new front. Taking the impersonal, automated and technological marketing tools that have revolutionized consumer engagement across industries and making it personal and interactive again. There is a huge shift to enhance personal relationships with consumers via these impersonal tools. Influencers, email newsletters and personalizing social posts are what we will continue to see a lot of.
Q: How does your role as a sales and marketing associate overlap with the other roles on the team?
I’ve sort of become the team utility player. Being in both a sales and marketing role I have constant overlap with all aspects of our team. Whether that’s helping to coordinate social campaigns and collaborating over how to increase brand awareness with our Marketing team or tying that in to how we can increase sales through eCommerce or retail.
Q: What has been your favorite project you have worked on at Tohi so far?
My favorite project so far has been our partnership with Sporting KC. I grew up playing soccer for 18 years and now I’m the fan, I feel like it’s a way of giving back to the sport I love so much. It’s an exciting relationship and I can’t wait to see where it goes. I enjoy being part of a team that has created a healthy lifestyle beverage that offers all of the benefits you need as an athlete to recover and perform at your best. It’s an exciting relationship and I can’t wait to see where it goes
Q: What is your favorite Tohi flavor?
I definitely enjoy them all and I go through phases of which are my go-to’s. Right now my favorite flavor is Dragon Fruit and Original!
