Q & A with Emma Allegri, Graphic Designer and Photographer

Emma joined Tohi in October, 2018 as the team’s Graphic Designer.

Emma Allegri originated from Leawood, Kansas with five siblings and a sassy cat named JJ. In May 2018, she graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in Graphic Design. While at K-State, Emma was the KSU American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) Jr. & Sr. Treasurer along with being the BFA Communications Leader. She was also awarded the Senior Design Award, Semi-Finalist for Adobe Awards (Commercial Package Design), Hagan Art Scholarship, and an Oscar V. Larmer Art Scholarship. Emma’s passion for design deepened after interning at KSU Undergrad Research and Creative Inquiry and Callahan Agency. Additionally, her work was displayed in two exhibits, the Chapman Gallery Exhibit and the Commerce Bank Exhibit. These opportunities encouraged her to teach herself photography and she gained a strong interest in interior design when she helped the design team on the HGTV show “Bargain Mansions.”

Emma admires all aspects of design and is continuously learning new design trends and skills. When she is not working, Emma loves to explore new restaurants with friends, enjoy a nice craft beer, and find fun places to hammock.

Q: When did you first become interested in design?

A: An appreciation for art has always ran through my family, so I grew up wanting to become an artist. When high school and college hit, I wanted to learn more about beautiful design. Here I am two internships and five awards later, with a degree in Graphic Design and a job as a professional designer.

Q: What made you want to join Tohi?

A: I was very intrigued to join a startup and help grow their brand.

Q: What is your favorite part about working at Tohi?

A: At a start up, you have the freedom to push the company’s awareness. With that challenge, I love creating social campaigns and experimenting with different designs.

Q: What emerging trends in design are you seeing for 2019?

A: Bright colors, like UFO Green and Plastic Pink, are making way into the social platforms. These highly saturated colors will help grab the viewer’s eye and intrigue them to see more. With Tohi’s brand colors, we are right on trend.

Q: How does your role as designer overlap with the other roles on the team?

A: I am part of the Marketing team, and we collaborate on the best way to communicate and connect with consumers through social platforms. As a designer, I try to bring the visual element into our messaging and communication with consumers. I also photograph frequently to document all our product, designs, and team events. It may not seem like it, but our roles are all intertwined in order to do the best we can for the team and the company.

Q: What has been your favorite project you have worked on at Tohi so far?

A: My favorite campaign to work on was the “12 Days of Tohi.” Every day we posted a Christmas themed image that revolved around Tohi.

Q: What is your favorite Tohi flavor?

A: I go in stages! Right now I love Ginger Lime, but Blackberry Raspberry tastes great after a workout.
